My background is as a Computer Engineer, but I have loved photography since I first started taking pictures in college back in 1970 with a small instamatic camera, and as the years have gone by I have become more and more involved with it. I rapidly graduated to 35mm SLR cameras and today use Nikon Digital cameras and lenses.

Although my first interest is landscape and travel photography, I also do portraits and events, primarily for close friends and associates. As you might have gathered from these pages, I also enjoy hiking and backpacking as well as international travel. I organize my local photographic activity under the name "Images by Jim Sweeney" and take great enjoyment in sharing my images with friends as well as the general public.
